2001年被选为中国科学院院士,2008年为英国皇家化学会会员。主要研究领域为胶体和界面科学。获得中国国家自然
科学二等奖和其他6个重大奖项。是两个外国杂志和2个中国杂志的编委。发表280余篇科学论文和写、编、译了5本书。
获得了20余项专利。
近年来的主要工作集中在制备分散度低的各种形态的金颗粒,微纳结构和胶体囊泡。以及将这些功能组装体用于生物传感
器和医药中。
